Nashville Happenings- Tennessee Flavors
Posted: March 10, 2013 Filed under: Drinks & Cocktails, Food & Cooking, Life | Tags: cocktails, food, foodie, Nashville events, Tennessee Flavors Leave a comment »Tennessee Flavors is an event benefitting the Nashville State Community College Culinary Arts Program and the Nashville State Foundation.
The second Annual event is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 5:30-8:30 pm in the NSCC student services center on the White Bridge Road campus. Our focus for this event will be Tennessee-sourced products and people.
Now, I haven’t had the chance to attend yet due to scheduling conflicts, but I hear good things about it.
Are you planning to attend? Which restaurants are you looking forward to sampling?
What excites me?? Etch, Holland House, Cabana, 1808 Grille, Jack Daniels, Corsair Artisan, Arrington Vineyards, Etch, and Yazoo. There are over 50 restaurants and beverage companies offering samples.
Enjoy!

I can relax on a Saturday while sipping on mimosas. Best snow day ever!!
Fun Happenings:
1. Going to attend my first Food and Wine Festival in April in Austin, TX. I am excited even though some of the reviews about the crowds haven’t been so hot. Regardless of the reviews, I plan to look on the bright side and make the most of this trip. I am IN love with the city of Austin. Hopefully I can get some of my girlfriends from Houston to drive up for the weekend.
2. Spring Break trip to Florida. I am trying out a new spot that I haven’t been to yet. Panama City Beach… The beaches look lovely and it will be great down time. Laying out on white sand beaches is right up my alley after a long semester at work.
3. Spring Break trip to New Orleans. Mostly because I miss good cajun food and especially the crawfish. I got a ok deal on the hotel at Embassy Suites. I am a sucker for their free breakfast and manager special- free cocktails. The hotel also has a pool, so laying out is on my agenda…. that and drinking. The hotel is also farther away from Bourbon Street so I won’t have to deal with the loud drunks and such.
What are your Spring Break plans? Any foodie recommendations for these three cities?

Foodie Review: Cabana’s Hot Chicken

So, I tried the Cabana’s “hot chicken” and waffle dish for the 30 days of heat. Here is the picture of it. I really thought that it had potential when it arrived. The red color fooled me. It was NOT hot at all.
I am kinda afraid to try some of the other Nashville Original places. I am willing to check out Cha Chah’s hot quail wings.
Have you tried the fancy version of hot chicken?

Moving Sucks/ Cajun Salmon- Shrimp with Asparagus
Posted: June 16, 2012 Filed under: Food & Cooking, Life | Tags: Cajun Salmon, Cajun Shrimp, food, Land O'Lakes, moving, Nashville wildlife, roasted asparagus, sauteed salmon Leave a comment »Well part of the reason that I have been MIA is that I moved. It isn’t exactly where I originally desired but I love it. I wanted to live in the uber chic East Nashville/Five Points area, but God led me to another great place. Who wouldn’t want to wake up and see horses outside their bedroom window. I am totally THEE country chick, so I am in love with seeing real animals roam about where I live. There are also the cutest bunnies that hop around the street too.
Of course I had to test drive the new kitchen! I had to travel just shortly down the road to get to the nearest grocery store. Luckily it is less than a five minute drive. The selection for veggies was good, but the seafood selection is seriously lacking. Read the rest of this entry »
