Nashville, Tennessee is known for more than just country music. It is greatly known for its tasty “Hot Chicken”. Hot Chicken isn’t like Buffalo’s hot wings, it is a fiery experience for all foodies everywhere. The chicken isn’t just covered in a hot sauce. It is marinated in it’s spicy goodness. You can taste the fire all the way down to the bone. Nashville has received lots of national attention because of the hot chicken. Recently, bon appetit wrote a nice article on the hot chicken in Nashville. Nashville’s Hot Chicken was also featured on Man vs Food.
Pepperfire Spiced Chicken has been around since late 2010. This place is very good. There rarely is a long line to order and the workers seemed truly happy to have your business which is unlike the other older hot chicken spot in Nashville.
The menu is pretty simple. Hot chicken and a few sides. The heat range goes from mild to my personal favorite xx-hot. Yes, I walk on the wild side. The prices are very reasonable considering how popular this place has gotten.
Now on to the chicken!!
I ordered the xxhot since I normally get xhot at Princes. I was told that the wait would be 20 minutes, and my food was in my hand in exactly 20 minutes. A PLUS!!! It was great weather on Saturday so I was able to sit outside at their picnic tables. When I got home, I noticed that the chicken was a little darker red. The taste is different from Princes. It must be due to different spices that Pepperfire uses. The chicken was cooked well and tasted good. Although the taste was different, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I would go back again. I love that they are open on Sundays. I also tweeted that I had a great experience and the owners tweeted me back to say thanks! Great use of social networking.
